Description: Achillea (Family: Asteraceae). Yarrow has been used as a medicine by many cultures for hundreds of years [58]. Good antibacterial activity against Shigella dysenteriae [59], moderate activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Clostridium perfringens and Candida albicans, and weak activity against Mycobacterium smegmatis, Acinetobacter lwoffii and Candida krusei was reported [60]. Yarrow was also proven to have a significant anti-inflammatory effect (most likely through protease inhibition) [61, 62]
